We Tested 100+ Solana Memecoin Strategies. Zero Worked.

Everyone shows you the memecoin that 100x’d. Nobody publishes the 100 that didn’t. So we did.
For 5½ months we ran a collector that tracked every Solana token crossing a $250k market cap: 2,380 tokens, 405,790 price snapshots, full lifecycle. Then we backtested more than 100 rule-based strategies against the data with realistic slippage.
Here is what the data said.
43.4% of every token that reached $250k rugged. Not mooned. Rugged. It is the single most common outcome, and it barely moves month to month.
Only 25.9% mooned, and most of those “only” doubled. The mega-moons everyone chases (a gain above 1,000%) were 2.2% of all tokens. You cannot build a repeatable strategy around catching a 2.2% event.
Zero strategies were reliably profitable. Discovery filters, trajectory features, conditional edges, time-of-day, trailing stops. We searched the space. The single best result was +0.3% per trade on a tiny sample, which is statistical noise. Everything else lost money after slippage.
Why? Four structural reasons stack against you: the public data only shows you a token after the early edge is gone, slippage (8–12% round-trip on thin liquidity) eats any margin, the outcome distribution is bimodal so tight rules miss the moons and wide rules get killed, and you are competing against bots with co-located infrastructure and real R&D budgets. From a home machine on public data, you are the liquidity, not the predator.
The uncomfortable summary: across 5½ months and 405,790 snapshots, the most profitable thing we did was not trade, and write down why.
