What the California tour looks like
Greer’s itinerary extends well beyond Tesla. The two-day swing through California includes stops at NextFlex in San Jose and participation in a Barclays semiconductor summit, painting a clear picture of the administration’s focus areas: electric vehicles, flexible electronics, and chips.

The Tesla connection runs deeper than one visit
Back in March 2025, Tesla flagged concerns directly to Greer’s office about the potential impact of retaliatory tariffs on battery supplies and global export capabilities.
Greer himself was confirmed by the Senate on February 27, 2025. Before stepping into the USTR role, he served as Chief of Staff to former USTR Robert Lighthizer. In 2026, Greer has been active on multiple fronts, including USMCA review discussions and engaging with EU digital regulations.
