I Started a Prop Firm Challenge — Here’s Why (and What I Expect)
--
Trading has always been about managing risk, staying disciplined, and thinking in probabilities. But one of the biggest limitations for many traders is capital.
That’s why I decided to start a prop firm challenge.
What is a Prop Firm Challenge?
A prop firm challenge is a process where traders prove their skills under specific rules. If you pass, you get access to a funded trading account — without risking a large personal deposit.
For many traders, this is a way to scale faster and trade with more confidence.
Why I Decided to Try It
I’ve been trading across different markets — forex, crypto, and stocks — and I wanted to test a structured environment with clear rules.
The idea of trading a larger account, while controlling risk, is something that aligns with my strategy.
But I’m not going into this blindly — I want to document everything.
My Plan
I will be sharing:
- My trade setups
- Risk management decisions
- Wins and losses (honestly)
- Psychological challenges
This is not just about passing the challenge — it’s about consistency.
The Advantages of Prop Firms
Here’s what I see as the main benefits:
✔️ Access to larger capital
✔️ Limited personal risk
✔️ Clear trading rules
✔️ Opportunity to scale faster
For disciplined traders, this can be a powerful tool.
The Downsides (Let’s Be Real)
It’s not as easy as it sounds.
❌ Strict rules (drawdown, targets)
❌ Psychological pressure
❌ Not all traders pass
❌ Some firms may change conditions
This is why risk management and patience matter more than ever.
My Approach
I’m focusing on:
- High-probability setups
- Controlled risk per trade
- Avoiding overtrading
- Staying consistent over time
No gambling — only structured trading.
Follow the Journey
I’ve just started this challenge, and I’ll be documenting everything step by step.
