Handala, an Iranian regime-backed hacktivist group, recently published a list of veterans from Israel’s IDF Egoz commando unit, branding them as high-value targets. The list includes mostly ex-conscripts, but Handala’s bravado would have you think they’re the Avengers.

The details

The list comprises 60 individuals tied to the Egoz unit, which specializes in counter-terrorism and guerrilla warfare. Despite the group’s claims that these are senior officers, reports indicate that most are ex-conscripts — publicly identifiable individuals whose information was accessible on social media.

Handala issued threats stating there is ‘no way to escape’ and that they will pursue targets ‘one by one.’ The group also claimed to have shared the exact coordinates of Egoz unit bases with Hezbollah, alleging a strategic collaboration for potential drone operations.

This isn’t Handala’s debut. In April, the group published a list of 100 individuals from the Maglan unit and leaked information on US Marines and Navy officers. In March, the US Department of Justice seized four domains linked to Handala, which it identified as a front for Iranian cyber warfare, but the group quickly restored its operations.

Background

The Egoz unit is an elite infantry commando squad known for its specialization in reconnaissance and counter-guerrilla operations, particularly along the Lebanese border. Iranian media characterized the leak as a significant security breach, while Israeli sources suggest the majority of exposed individuals are low-ranking veterans whose information was publicly accessible.
