ChatGPT Is Now Guessing Your Age
OpenAI’s age prediction rollout is about child safety. It’s also about unlocking adult content. Both things are true.

OpenAI has quietly deployed an age prediction model across ChatGPT globally.
It does not ask for your ID. It does not pop up a form asking your date of birth. It watches you, analyses your behavior, and decides whether you are a minor. Scary, right?
If it thinks you are under 18, your account automatically gets restricted, sensitive content is filtered, certain interactions are limited, and some features disappear. All without telling you it happened.
If it gets it wrong and you are actually an adult, you can appeal by submitting a live selfie or a government ID through a third-party verification service called Persona.
So to summarize, OpenAI’s system can restrict your account based on a prediction, and your recourse is to hand your face or ID to a company you have never heard of.
This deserves more scrutiny than it is getting.
