The Ukrainian organization cleared Stage 2 with a 2-1 victory over MIBR, continuing a run that few outside the competitive CS2 scene had on their bingo card.
B8 sits at the intersection of competitive gaming and blockchain technology, with a partnership with Maincard.io and its matches appearing in prediction markets on Coinbase.
Inside the tournament run
The IEM Cologne Major 2026 uses a three-stage Swiss format, which is essentially a bracket system where teams are matched against opponents with similar win-loss records. In English: you keep playing until you either rack up enough wins to advance or enough losses to go home.
AdvertisementB8 navigated Stage 2 with a 2-2 Swiss record as of June 9, 2026. Their clinching match was a 2-1 win against MIBR, the storied Brazilian roster that has been a fixture in competitive Counter-Strike for years.
Stage 3 runs from June 11-15, 2026. The survivors of that gauntlet will advance to the playoff bracket, scheduled for June 18-21. The total prize pool for the event sits at $1.17 million.
The IEM Cologne Major is co-endorsed by ESL and Valve, the company behind Counter-Strike itself.
From Dota 2 legend to CS2 contender
B8 Esports was founded on January 27, 2020, by Danil “Dendi” Ishutin and co-founder Ivan Mamchur. Dendi is one of the most recognizable names in Dota 2 history, a player whose fame extended well beyond the game’s core audience thanks to his personality and his appearances in esports documentaries.
The blockchain angle
B8 has a partnership with Maincard.io, a blockchain-based fantasy sports platform. The partnership aims to blend competitive gaming fandom with the kind of prediction and engagement mechanics that crypto-native platforms specialize in.
B8’s matches have also appeared in prediction markets on Coinbase. This illustrates how mainstream crypto platforms are beginning to treat esports events the same way they treat traditional sports: as prediction market fodder with real liquidity.
There is no specific token tied directly to B8 or its competitive results. The blockchain connection is more about infrastructure partnerships and market exposure than any kind of tokenized team equity.
